Obituary of Helen Louise Snyder

Helen Louise Snyder, 96, of Floodwood, passed away on September 15, 2023. Born to Peter and Mary Van  de Nest on August 9, 1927 in Minnewaukan, North Dakota, her family moved to Floodwood six years after. She graduated from Floodwood High School in 1945. On August 16, 1947 she married Leonard Snyder at St. Louis Church in Floodwood. Helen was able to stay home and raise their six children.

Several groups in which Helen belonged were the St. Louis Ladies, VFW Auxiliary, FST Board, Community Center Board, and many other boards throughout the years. Helen was the manager of the Floodwood Bridgemans and involved in every aspect of the Floodwood community. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Van de Nest; and husband, Leonard Snyder, and daughter Theresa Snyder.

She will be missed deeply by her daughters, Carol (Walter) Scott, Donna (Dwight) Dexter, Mary (Larry) Riley, Mae (John) Polo; son, Stephen (Marianne) Snyder; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and the doors to her home were open to many other children.

The Rosary begins at 10:00 am with the visitation to follow. The service begins at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at St. Louis Catholic Church, 105 E 4th Ave, Floodwood. A luncheon will follow the sevice at the event center. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, 801 14^th Street, Cloquet.
