Obituary of Irene D Bassa
Irene (Rene) D Bassa, 78, formally from Cloquet & Brookston passed away on 11/12/23. She was born to Hjalmer & Dorothy Fosness & lived her childhood in Alborn. She married Ted Bassa Jr on 12/21/64 and together they raised two children. Irene worked for many years at a boarding home in Brookston where she was known for her cooking skills. She retired from Super One in Cloquet. She loved to read, listen to country music & watch old westerns. In her earlier years she enjoyed listening to & dancing to country western music at the local Legion club, snowmobiling, & time spent with her sisters, brothers & their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband & high school sweetheart Teddy, brother Pete & sisters Marlene, Janice, & Annette.
She is survived by daughter Lori (Gary) Olson, son Tim Bassa, Grandsons Cory (Steph) Olson, Justin Bassa, Kyle (Alyssa) Olson, great grand daughters Madisyn & Isla, sister in law Carolyn Bassa, brother Warren Fosness & sisters Pat (Clyde) Johnson, Kathy Hergert, & many nieces & nephews.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Sunnyside for the exceptional care & love she received from all the last 2.5 years prior to their closing. Also, St Croix Hospice has been a true blessing & comfort to our mom & family during this difficult time.
Visitation: 10:30am until the service begins at 11:30am on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet.
