Obituary of Bonnie Mae Edin

Bonnie Mae Edin, age 83, of Spokane, Washington, formally Cloquet, Minnesota passed away on January 9, 2024. She was born on April 16, 1940 to Arthur and Hilma (Sipola) Swanson in Cloquet, Minnesota, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1958. She worked at the Northwest Paper Company, helped run a successful drive-in restaurant in Esko (Rog’s Galley), and retired from Carlton County Health and Adult Services in 1999, after almost 20 years of service.

Bonnie was a very outgoing and caring person who loved people, animals, cooking, playing games, traveling, and spending time at the lake with family and friends. She moved to Spokane in 2017 to be near her daughter and family.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Edin; her parents, Arthur and Hilma Swanson; and her siblings, Billy Swanson and Faye Johnson. She is survived by two sons, Mark (Brenda) Johnson and Kip Gallea; daughter, Kandi (Brian) Hoaglund; stepchildren, Pamela (Paul) DeRoy and David Edin; seven grandchildren, Kerrissa (Jared) Keymer, Amber (Cory) Clark, Alyssa (Josh) Olson, Ashley (Josh) Erickson, Jordan Johnson, Brendan Hoaglund, Dirk Hoaglund; two step-grandchildren, Connor (Madison) DeRoy and Danielle DeRoy; fifteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Ehrman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
