Obituary of Floyd William Ahlgren
Floyd William Ahlgren, 88, of Floodwood, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at his home. He was born to Stanley and Frieda Ahlgren on March 18, 1935. Raised in Munger until 1948, he graduated from Hermantown High School in 1953. Floyd married Carole Chehock February 3, 1956 in Duluth.
While living in Duluth Floyd was employed at Reserve Minning and Taystee Bakeries. They moved to Floodwood in 1967, he worked out of the Floodwood Station of MN-DOT, retiring as Senior Maintenance Man after 29 years of truck driving and snow plowing.
Floyd enjoyed working on old John Deere tractors and took pride in maintaining his fields, the Ahlgren Town Road and yard of the Halden Town Hall. He lost track of how many tractors he had owned before moving into town and having to sell his special Kubota. He served on Halden Township Board as Road Supervisor and Town Hall Janitor along with Carole. They are long time members of Hope Lutheran Church.
He will be missed by his wife, Carole Ahlgren; children, Roger (Marcia) Ahlgren, Deborah (Jeff) Romanek, Lynnette Peters; brother, Maynard Ahlgren; sister-in-law, JoAnn Ahlgren; grandchildren, Jeremy (Angie) Ahlgren, Darren Ahlgren, Brett (Elisa) Ahlgren, Trisha Peters, Nial (Christine) Romanek, Clay Romanek; and great-grandchildren, Ella, Gabby, Annie, Theo and Oscar.
Visitation: 10:00 am until the service begins at 11:00 am, on Monday, March 18, at Hope Lutheran Church, 401 MN-73, Floodwood, MN 55736, a luncheon will follow the service. Burial will take place at Sunrise Cemetery, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, MN 55811 following the luncheon.
