Obituary of Judith (Anderson) Miller

Judith (Anderson) Miller, age 104, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, in Cromwell, MN. Born in Bovey, Minnesota, on March 4, 1920, she grew up in Meadowlands, Minnesota.

Following graduation from Meadowlands High School, Judy attended Young and Hursh Business College in Duluth. After completing a secretarial course, she was employed by Bridgeman-Russell Company as a billing clerk for three years. She married Andrew Anderson at First Lutheran in Meadowlands in 1942 and together they owned and operated a dairy farm for 40 years. She also was employed as the executive assistant for eight years at the Northland Telephone Company in Meadowlands, and then as the school secretary for Toivola-Meadowlands School for 18 years.

Judy was well known in the Meadowlands area for her mastery of the organ and piano. Music was an important part of her life. She became the organist for First Lutheran Church in Meadowlands at the age of 14 and continued playing for 74 years. She directed church and community choirs and played for church services, soloists, weddings, funerals, and many other occasions until her retirement at age 88.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 40 years, Andrew Anderson; parents, Albin and Signe Edstrom; sister, Hildur (Timpane), brother-in-law, Merlin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard (Elsie) Edstrom and Carl (Patricia) Edstrom.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Miller; daughter, Dr. Judith Wain; son, Eugene (Carol) Anderson; grandchildren, Andrea (Erik) Juhl, David Wain, Nathan (Julie Patrick) Wain, and Dr. Kristin Anderson (Dr. Chris Lievens); and great-grandchildren, Eva, Caroline, Mckenna, Jack, Audrey, Wyatt, Isabel, and Thad; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her husband Roy’s children, Linda (James) Walker and Kathleen Mattson; and Roy’s seven grandchildren.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date at First Lutheran Church, Meadowlands, where she was a lifetime member.
