Obituary of Brian Thomas Ostman

Brian Thomas Ostman, 32 of Wilder Township, near Windom, Minn. died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, January 6, 2003 in the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis from complications due to a brain aneurysm. He was born in Cloquet on June 26, 1970 to Abby and Kathleen (Thompson) Ostman. Brian graduated from Cloquet High School in 1988 and attended the Duluth Area Technical College for Surveying. In 1990 he went to work as an on site construction inspector for the State Highway Dept. and assisted on the survey crew. In 2002 he became the office manager for MN DOT in Windom, Minn. Brian enjoyed sports, snowmobiling, reading and spending time with his friends and family. Brian was preceded in death by a brother, Michael John Ostman in 1968; his maternal grandfather, Gilman Thompson and his paternal grandfather, Albert Ostman. He is survived by his father, Abby (Joyce) Ostman of Cloquet; his mother, Kathleen (Robert) Wait of Cloquet; his paternal grandmother, Florence Ostman of Virginia; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Thompson of Virginia; his brothers, Marc Ostman of Cloquet, Eric (Emily) Wait and Timothy (Jill) Wait both of Sleepy Eye, Minn., Shaun (Terry) Johnson of Cloquet, Scott (Jana) Johnson of Newhall, Iowa and Steve (Missy) Johnson of Lindstrom, Minn.; his sisters, Kellie (A.J. Ward) Miller of Duluth and Erin (Chris Rogge) Wait of Cottage Grove; several nieces and nephews and his cat, Nellie. Family and friends gathered on Saturday, January 11, 2003 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet for a time of visitation and sharing. Inurnment will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
