Cecil Boedigheimer

Obituary of Cecil R Boedigheimer

Cecil R. Boedigheimer, 93, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at Sunnyside Health Care Center in Cloquet.

Cecil was born and spent his entire life in the Cloquet/Scanlon area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Cecilia, and seven siblings: Donald, Vernon, Frances, MaryAnn, Kenneth, Leslie, and Gordon. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gene; his wife, Gail; and the mother of his children, Annie (Jerry) Kriske.

After retiring, his days were spent at the local coffee shops with “the boys”, at Black Bear Casino (Never more than $20….or so he told us), and watching Gunsmoke (Matt got shot in the arm again….it’s a wonder he has an arm left!).  He was an enrolled member of the American Legion for 66 years.

To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. He leaves behind his son, Scott (Paula) Boedigheimer, and 3 daughters, Jenny (Gary) Hedin, Annette (Bruce) Bryant, and Lynne (Brian) Hoover; 5 grandchildren; Lindsey (Niklaus) Forstbauer, Hillary Hedin, Scottie Boedigheimer, Tommy Boedigheimer, and Jennie (Jeroam DeFoe) Bryant; 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the staff at Sunnyside – we are so glad his last days were with the exceptional staff that work there. You guys are the best. “Shave and a haircut, 6 bits.”

Per his request, there will be no service.

Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet, MN. To sign the guestbook and make an online tribute, see www.atkinsnorthlandfuneralhome.com.
